FAQs

After careful consideration of the current health situation, SGNA has made the tough decision to postpone the in-person 47th Annual Course to to November 1-3, 2020 (with pre-meeting events October 30-31) in Louisville, KY. Please continue to check this page in the coming weeks for new information as it is available. If you have a question that is not answered below, please contact SGNA Headquarters.

Why did you take so long to make this change?

SGNA’s Board of Directors and staff team knows our community relies on the relevant education and contact hours gained at the Annual Course, and does not take any decision that impacts the event lightly.

However, these considerations are secondary to our concern for the safety and well-being of our attendees, exhibitors and sponsors, your patients and your communities. As such, SGNA’s Board of Directors and staff team have been closely monitoring the rapidly evolving situation, stakeholder feedback and recommendations from local and state health authorities, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO).

At the same time, we’ve been working with our partners in Louisville to find an alternate date that still allows you to attend the event within 2020, but at a time when COVID-19 is not likely to pose a risk, you are not urgently needed at your facilities and you are able to travel for the event. We feel comfortable we have achieved that balance with these late fall dates.

What will happen with my original 47th Annual Course registration?

If you have already registered for the 47th Annual Course, we will automatically transfer your registration to the new event dates on your behalf. You will receive an updated confirmation for your records. We are not accepting any cancelation requests at this time. You may check back later this year when registration reopens for the Annual Course.

Can I transfer my registration to someone else?

Yes, please email info@sgna.org with your registration confirmation number and the name/contact information of the person who is taking over your registration.

Do I need to cancel my hotel reservation for May?

If you have reserved a room within the SGNA Annual Course discounted room block, your current reservation will be cancelled and you will need to re-book your room for the new dates. If you had reserved a room at the Omni Louisville, you may have already received this cancellation.

If you have not yet reserved a hotel room within SGNA’s discounted room block, you must do so between July 1 and October 2 to receive the lowest rates. Hotel details and contact information is available here.

Be sure to contact your airline or travel agency to reschedule your flight(s) to Louisville, KY.

Will the 47th Annual Course sessions be available virtually?

We recognize that not everyone seeking certification or re-certification this year may be able to attend during the new 2020 event dates. SGNA will make select session recordings available after the event, and is investigating additional eLearning opportunities to help our members earn additional contact hours, and learn about the latest technologies and services from our partner community. Please watch your inbox, this website and SGNA’s social media platforms for additional updates as they are available.

Will oral and poster presenters still be able to present at the fall 2020 Annual Course?

SGNA will be sending specific surveys to all presenters regarding their ability to participate in the fall 2020 Annual Course within the next week. We are hopeful that all presenters will be able to make the fall date.

Will my Annual Course scholarship or registration fees received based on a 2020 award be transferrable to 2021?

SGNA is working with all of our grant partners that generously provided funding for these scholarships and awards to ensure that we are able to transfer these awards to the new dates in 2020. We will reach out to all scholarship and awardees once we have received confirmation.

Are you aware that these new dates overlap with the 2020 U.S. General Election, Tuesday, November 3?

SGNA is aware of this potential scheduling conflict. We encourage all our attendees to pre-plan to vote in the general election early or to request an absentee ballot. We will be sure to communicate to our attendees about this again prior to the event.

Will there be any Halloween celebration at the event, as the new conference dates fall over that holiday?

While we can’t confirm what activities will occur at this time, we do suggest that you start planning what costume you will bring to the Annual Course.

Will paid attendee and exhibitor badge registrations be refunded?

We appreciate your patience during this time. All contracted exhibitors and sponsors for the 47th Annual Course will have their badges transferred to the new event dates for the 47th Annual Course.

Will exhibitors be refunded for booth space?

SGNA will honor the current sponsor and exhibitor contracts for the 47th Annual Course and transfer booth space and benefits accordingly. The primary contact for your company will receive further information from your SGNA relationship manager. You can expect to receive an email communication by the week of April 13 with more information.

Will attendees and exhibitors be refunded for airline tickets?

SGNA is not responsible for reimbursement of non-refundable airfare. However, we understand that many airlines have suspended cancellation and similar fees due to the circumstances surrounding COVID-19. Please contact your airline or travel agency for additional details.

Will SGNA change the 48th Annual Course (2021) dates?

There are currently no plans to change the dates of the 48th Annual Course in 2021.

Please email info@sgna.org if you have additional questions.
